OH MY GOODNESS!! You have to go here!!!

Okay guys!! As you know I am slowly learning about photography and the business and needless to say, getting help and advise close to home has been challenging. However, the clouds have parted and I am on such a "learning" high right now, (I know, I sound like a dork but it's exciting!!).

I've been trying to figure out just how professional photographers do "it." That awesome professional look we all want but few can afford to dish out several hundred dollars on pictures. Hold on tight guys, I may have cracked the code on this mystery. Of course, it's all about your camera. You want to understand your functions and know exactly what your camera can do and how to set the camera functions. But, lately, I've discovered a lot of it has to do with post editing. Yes, my cousins awesome husband gave me Photoshop CS4 but I was totally overwhelmed and feeling a little defeated. Then last week somehow, I stumbled upon a wonderful photographer from California, I sent her an email and she has OPENED my eyes!!! (I think I was lead to her blog!). Anyhow, she told me all about Photoshop Actions, which I'd never heard of before. Actions are basically presets in Photoshop that will make you work flow much faster but still give you the control over the look you want to get out of your pictures. Purchasing actions can be expensive I quickly discovered.

Then, I once again stumbled upon another Ohio photographer's blog and she sent me to this FANTASTIC site. This wonderful woman is a stay at home mom, loves photography and post processing. She cracks and then creates FREE, yes FREE actions for us to download!!! Her site is simply called "Coffeeshop." And I LOVE IT!!! I have downloaded nearly 30 actions and it is completely safe! She provides great instructions too!

I've been playing around with a few of the actions today. Take a look at the original shot and then look what I did to them!!

This one, I added a glaze to it!

Classic black and white! LOVE IT!

I'll put her button on my site as soon as possible so you guys can visit easily!!

Hope this helps someone!

New Addition : Part II

As many of you know, I'm an amateur photographer slowly learning. I've got my dream camera and I am shooting my little boy like crazy! I feel comfortable with my camera but Photoshop is kicking my tail!! I study other photographers pictures and attempt to figure out what they have done and recreate it myself in Photoshop. I'm learning, but I just wish someone had a simple tell all with great directions about Photoshop!!

Anyway, I couldn't resist posting a few more pictures of Danae, Allena and family. I had a hard time deciding which ones to post in color and in black in white, (you know I'm a sucker for those!). Hope you enjoy!

New Little Blessing.

When my friends asked me to take newborn pictures for them, I was excited, and nervous. I've never done this before. But, we took it slow paced and had so much fun! Danae, who you've seen all over my blog for the past two years, is now a big sister and is doing such a good job! She had us rolling on the floor laughing! Little Allena, tolerated all the crazy positions I put her in and eventually decided enough was enough and went to sleep, which is what we were hoping for! A couple of the pictures look a little grainy and I'm not sure why. I've tried to upload a couple of times but I just can't get them up right. Oh well....

Danae as a big sister now!

Meet Allena.

The Girls.

After I put Emily's ring on Allena's toe, Danae had to have Johnny's ring on her finger!

I love this shot!

Excitment and Jubilation!!!

My brand spankin' new camera is on it's way and if you couldn't tell I'm
E-X-C-I-T-E-D beyond belief!!! I've been very blessed to be shooting with my camera I've had for the past four years and it has served me so well. Not sure I'll be able to part with my little Canon Rebel 350D, (which they don't even make any more!). Lonnie, that's the hubby, and I found a fantastic Canon T1i and were very fortunate to order it. Lonnie gave me the good news that it was shipped this morning and should be here in just a few days. I just can't wait!!! We are just so blessed!

Cindy & Jerome II

I am having too much fun editing these pictures! I'm editing in my new Photoshop CS4, (thanks Deron!), and I am having a ball trying out all the different effects and color corrections you can do with this program. I'm just about to finish up editing Cindy and Jerome's photos but wanted to post just a few more of them. Didn't Cindy do a good job picking out their outfits??!! I always think that's the hardest thing to do when I try to pick out outfits for our family photos! Anyway, here you go!!

Don't you just LOVE that smirk on Jerome's face!

I love Cindy's smile here. Catching them laughing made better pictures than me telling them what to do. Natural shots are always the best!

Once more, the ring. BLING!! BLING!!

Cindy & Jerome

Yesterday evening, I had so much fun shooting my first engagement session of the year. And even though it was still 91 degrees at 7 o'clock, Cindy and Jerome were such good sports! We wiped the sweat off between camera snaps and enjoyed the breeze when one passed by! They were up to any idea I threw at them and Cindy had some great ideas herself. Here's just a sneak peak at a few shots from yesterday. More to come soon!

Didn't Jerome do a good job picking out the ring??

This was Cindy's idea! I just love this one!

Excuse the mess!

Hi everyone! Please excuse the mess, or lack there of. I'm rebuilding this blog to match my photography website domain name, so I'll no longer be updating the old blog, (www.creekbankphotography.blogspot.com). I'll be blogging here starting today. So bare with me, this could take some time to build it the way I hope to.

But, pictures are coming VERY soon! I shot an engagement session tonight and I just looked through those pictures and I have some great shots! I'll post them as soon as I get them organized and edited!

In other news, I'm hoping to update my Canon 350D camera to a newer model. But, I'm having a time trying to decide what Canon I want and the lens. I can't believe how far technology has come since I bought my trust Canon four years ago. It's amazing. I'll keep you posted!

Until tomorrow, good night all!!!
